A picture is like a stained-glass window. A simple medium, when mixed with light, creates a colorful portrayal of a single moment in time; a feeling; a memory. I'm amazed at how capturing light in a single moment can evoke so many emotions; the tenderness of a kiss sealing an eternal promise; the bittersweet tears of a father giving his little princess away; the playfulness of a mischievous ring bearer. Anyone can snap a photo of these events, but capturing the emotion in these moments is nothing less than art.

Hi, I'm Peter Conrey. I am a wedding and portrait photographer based in Rossville, TN, a quaint country town just east of Memphis. While I can never pass up the opportunity to photograph a beautiful sunrise or capture a unique perspective on a city landmark, my artistic passion is photographing people. There's no better feeling than to take a picture of someone, show it to them, and hear them say "Hey, I look good!". I love making people look great.

When I was 13, I worked all summer as a landscaper's assistant and saved every penny I made to purchase my first SLR camera. From the moment I first clicked the shutter on that old Pentax, I was hooked. That was 1983. While the equipment I use today is a far cry from my old faithful film camera, the intrigue is the same. I still enjoy the challenge of finding a unique perspective on a subject, and bringing a smile to someone's face.

I often hear people ask, "What is your 'style' of photography?" You know those personality test that tell you if you're a extrovert or intuitive or what not? I took one once that compared people to animals; you were either a Golden Retriever, an Otter, a Beaver or a Lion. Well, I flat-lined the test. I was an equal mix of all four personality types. I believe that I carry that mixed (or mixed-up) style to my photography as well. I'm a photojournalist, fine art photographer, portrait photographer, landscape photographer, and art director all rolled up into one. I like to think of myself as an "illustrative" photographer; someone who combines different styles of art and photography together to illustrate an event or story. I like to think that my "style" doesn't fit neatly into a box, but rather that it is organic and fluid; able to adapt to fit the character of the story is being told at the time.
